  • How Do I Get Rid Of The Fat Under My Chin?

One of the biggest questions we get asked is how do I get rid of my double chin? The term ‘double chin’ was widely linked to just being overweight however, there are many other causes as we will cover below. We all crave for more naturally contoured cheeks and jawline without looking ‘overdone.’ The industry technology has advanced that far now that there are nonsurgical options to give significant non surgical facelifts with zero downtime and without discomfort, needles or scalpels. What Are The Causes Of A Double Chin? A double chin can be caused by the increase of fat and loose skin located on the neck, jawline and chin, giving the appearance of two or even three chins. Not only does fat play a role in why we can get double chins but the general process of aging can be another reason. As we age, the fat pads across the face and neck lose volume and waste away causing the look of excess skin and saggy skin. These fat pads also begin to slide down the face creating less defined cheekbones and eventually fall into the jawline and chin area with gravity. Loss of collagen and elastin also causes lax skin. We start to lose collagen and elastin in our early 20s therefore to prevent the risk of ‘double chins’ we would start to treat early rather than later, prevention is better than cure! We lose approximately 1-2% of collagen every year from the age of 25 years which is why we recommend our skin supplements complimented by clinical skin tightening, fat destroying treatments. If you are concerned about your double chin from what you feel is an early age then we recommend treatments now to eliminate any excess fat in the area, tighten the skin and prevent it from developing further. We can perform a non surgical facelift in you lunch hour! Why do I have a double chin when I'm skinny? We meet many slim and young clients which are distress and confused about why they have a double chin and have even considered going under the knife for a facelift? Genetics definitely play a role in the cause of your ‘double chin’, as fat may naturally be distributed in the chin and neck area. There are many contributing factors that can all create an undefined jawline and chin. More recently, studies have alarmingly shown that our posture also has a massive impact on our “Turkey Neck.” Sadly post COVID, many of us are spending even more time hunched over our laptops in poor postural positions at home. Research has shown that young teenagers/adults now have early onset signs of spinal curvature, this is due to poor posture spending endless hours looking down at their mobiles. Spending endless hours looking down at laptops and mobiles is naturally going to create a more significant double chin which is then made more obvious with any excess weight. This poor posture combined with the increase of hours spend on Zoom looking at ourselves has also caused clients to take action and create more contoured cheekbones, sculpted jawlines and neck. How long does it take to get rid of a double chin? Now you can get rid of that double chin without surgery, we perform non surgical facelift! We have the latest medical HIFU technology that visibly tightens lax skin by stimulating more collagen and elastin. Not only does the treatment tighten but it also destroys the excess fat cells from the area to get rid of the double chin and sculpt cheekbones. Once the fat cells are destroyed they are gone forever. Our HIFU is very popular as it tightens the skin at the same time as permanently breaking down fat cells so that clients are not left with more excess loose skin. This new device is pain-free unlike traditional older versions of HIFU, there is also zero down time and no needles or scalpels required! Clients only need between 1-3 treatments max which may be spaced 3 weeks apart. Top ups may only be required every 12- 24 months depending on client’s needs. This treatment is suitable for all skin of colour as well. Alongside tightening skin and destroying fact cells this treatment also significantly reduces fine line & wrinkles, open pores and lifts hooded eyes. What's stopping you from looking snatched?? • What is pigmentation?

You can find pigmentation or hyperpigmentation anywhere on the body, they are darkened patches on the skin that can vary in size, they give the skin an uneven skin tone. Most common types of pigmentation are Melasma, Chloasma, Sunspots, Age Spots, Liver Spots, Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation and Freckles. When pigmentation is left untreated it will get worse and overtime as the melanin is pushed closer to the surface of the skin. Pigmentation cannot be cured but with the correct professional advice it can be managed effortlessly and you can experience a flawless more even skin tone as long as treatment and skincare are maintained. What causes pigmentation? Over production of melanin which is caused by a number of issues such as: sun exposure, hormones, and skin trauma from post inflammation. Sun exposure: If we don't apply SPF daily to protect our skin then we are more likely to end up with excessive pigmentation that will become more noticeable as we age. This is because sun exposure causes immediate pigment darkening. Also, while many love their freckles, there are many that don't. Freckles are generally caused by sun damage but also a person's genetics can be the reason why someone has freckles. They're very common in lighter skin tones and hair colour. Skin trauma: Spots popping and popping pimples causes trauma to the skin which will cause post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, these are pigmented spots that may appear brown or red. To prevent post inflammatory hyperpigmentation stop being a pimple popper! Even blackhead popping is a no go, squeezing blackheads is forbidden, please refrain from all spot squeezing!!!! Hormones: Melasma and chloasma (also known as the pregnancy mask) are forms of pigmentation on the face that ladies often experience during due to a change in hormones. The difference between Melasma and hyperpigmentation is that Melasma is always symmetrical on the face, it’s almost like a butterfly affect and is defined by patches on the lip, forehead, cheeks and chin. Medications can also affect hormones which can also cause over production of melanin in the skin creating more pigmentation. How to treat pigmentation & hyperpigmentation: For healthy even skin tone we recommend the following as a good basic routine to protect the DNA of the cell Nucleus and to keep skin glowing. Firstly, to prevent further damage to the skin a daily SPF is essential to protect the skin. Secondly, we recommend a form of vitamin A that is suitable to the client’s needs which may be a Retinol or prescription strength vitamin A such as Tretinoin. Thirdly to enhance results and to increase product absorption we always recommend a skin specific exfoliator such as Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid and Salicylic Acid. We also off a range of clinical treatments to intensively treat the skin and get those results faster. Would you go to the gym and them eat a McDonalds afterwards? This is like having advanced clinical Laser Treatments/Micro-Needling/IPL treatments and then putting shea butter on your face. For complete skin rejuvenation in the fastest time possible we combine advanced skincare, clinical treatments with skin specific supplements to treat the skin from within. To create healthier more even skin tone we can combine clinical treatments, skin supplements and good skin care to help minimise the current appearance of pigmentation but also stop the formation of any new pigmentation. Depending on your skin tone will determine how we can treat your skin. (see Fitzpatrick scale Blog too) Anti-Ageing Treatment Recommendations IPL Photo Treatments (only suitable for Fitzpatrick 1-4) Peels Treatments for Melasma / Chloasma: We wouldn’t recommend any Laser, Radiofrequency Micro-needling or IPL Photo treatments as they all generate heat which over time may cause the Melasma to come back worse. These treatments get rid of pigmentation initially but its very likely it will come back worse. Melasma is effectively treated with Obagi Medical, we offer 14 Skin Transformations to treat the most stubborn pigmentation. For Melasma we would recommend Peels and 14-week skin transformation kit by Obagi Medical skincare to even out skin tone. Both options are suitable for all skin of colour. Our supplements: (Fitzpatrick 1-6) Skin Complete Skin Vit C Our Skin Care (Fitzpatrick 1-6) Environ - Mild-moderate pigmentation Obagi - Moderate - severe pigmentation and melasma.
