How often should I have it done?

In the beginning a few treatments may be recommended 2-4 weeks apart. The more consistent your treatments are, the quicker your results will be. For most clients they are able to maintain their results with annual top up maintenance treatments.

Is Microneedling permanent?

Our microneedling treatments are some of the most effective skin-tightening treatments available. As with all treatments and clinics, no-one can or should guarantee permanent results as we can not stop the ageing process. We can only prevent it by slowing it down with maintenance anti ageing treatments.

Which do I need, Dermapen Microneedling or Radio Frequency Microneedling treatment?

At Fiji Skin Clinic Birmingham, we offer and specialise in all types of microneedling. Our results are outstanding due to the combination of Meso Skin Boosters and Dermalux Tri-wave MD with our treatments. With these combinations the skin is receiving 2-3 treatments in one to enhance results and accelerate healing.

All our microneedling treatments will lift, firm and tightened the skin but there are some other benefits to consider before a decision is made between Radio Frequency Microneedling & Microneedling. Both treatments tighten skin, minimise open pores, increase collagen & elastin, reduce acne scars, minimise surgical scars and stretch marks, tighten crepey skin whilst reduces fine fines & wrinkles.

In clinic we educate clients about maintaining good skin health.. We are like the dentist… You brush and floss your teeth daily which is like your am & pm skin care regime. You then have regular appointments through out the year to;

a) see your dentist for a check up which is like your regular Skin Analysis Consultation which can be done every 3- 6 months.

b) see the hygienist to deeply clean & scale your teeth which is the similar to maintenance skin treatments too boost collagen and create glowing healthier skin which can be done 1-3 months.

N.B. It’s important to understand that not all Radio frequency microneedling devices are made the same, this means that some are significantly better devices than others. We offer the Morpheus8, its not a medical device, its a surgical device which is even better.  To date there is no other device out there that goes up to 4 mm under the jawline & chin. This makes it superior at breaking down fat, contouring the jawline and getting rid of double chins. The needles are gold plated stainless steel which also provides additional antibacterial reassurance.

What are the needle safety protocols?

N.B. All needle heads are one use only, sterile and disposed of in sharps boxes. No clinic should ever give you your needle head to bring back for your next treatment! Needles go blunt over time and they need to be sterile. No manufacturer recommends this! Medical protocol is that all sharps must be disposed of in sharps boxes after one use for obvious health & safety. We open your sealed needle pack in front of you.

What are the contraindications for Dermapen Microneedling and Radio Frequency Microneedling?

If you have any underlying health condition and or are taking any medications other than the contraceptive pill please email [email protected] to seek advice and treatment suitability before booking.

BEFORE 

  • Avoid injectables 4 weeks before treatment
  • Stop all forms of topical Vitamin A such as Retinol & prescription skincare, all acid / granular exfoliators 7 days before treatment
  • If you are using prescription skincare please seek advice from your practitioner as not all products need to be stopped for 7 days

AFTER

  • No Make-up for the rest of the day
  • SPF must be applied in the morning and topped up regularly through the day
  • Reintroduce Vitamin A / Retinol & prescription Vitamin A,  and all acid / granular exfoliators 5 days post treatment
  • If you are using prescription skincare please seek advice from your practitioner to advise how soon you are able to reapply.

Is Dermapen Microneedling better than Radio Frequency Microneedling?

It really depends on the clients concerns as there are benefits to both which is why we offer them all. See the comparison chart above for a quick glance response. If a client requires skin tightening and pigmentation reduction we would recommend Microneedling with a Meso Depigmentation Skin Booster over Radio Frequency MicroNeedling. If a client was more concerned with their double chin then we would recommend Morpheus8 which is Radio Frequency MicroNeedling.

How long does it take to see results from Microneedling?

The needles create “micro-wounds” which trigger your body’s wound healing processes to heal your micro wounds immediately. Whilst mild skin tightening is experienced within a few days the most dramatic results will not be visible for about four to six weeks post treatment as new collagen and elastin is formed.

Is Microneedling painful?

Microneedling isn’t overly painful at all and requires no numbing cream. We can always numb the area if its a client preference for microneedling or if deeper settings are required.  Numbing is always required for Morpheus8

What is the aftercare for Microneedling?

Do not use topical agents that may increase the sensitivity of your skin such as retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics or acids 5-7 days prior to your treatment. Knowing what to expect on the day of your microneedling treatment will make this procedure as comfortable and anxiety-free as possible for you. As with any cosmetic skin treatment, it’s important to look after your skin following a microneedling procedure for best results.

Is Microneedling with RF worth it?

Is radiofrequency skin tightening permanent?

Results from RF treatment can be maintained with regular top-ups to continue to boost collagen. RF skin tightening is a safe effective solution for tightening skin without undergoing any downtime or more invasive procedures or surgery. There are no permanent treatments out there as we can not stop the ageing process.

How long does RF Microneedling last?

Results will continue for up to one year when using our devices. As with all treatments, we generally recommend a course of treatments 2-4 weeks  apart of a course before going onto a regular maintenance plan or membership.

What does radiofrequency skin tightening do?

Radio Frequency skin tightening instantly tightens current collagen fibres and also stimulates new collagen and elastin to tighten, lift, and tone the face. It improves elasticity, reduces and softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles plus aids in reducing crow’s feet and puffiness around the eye area. Around the chin and jawline, we are also able to incorporate some fat reduction to reduce double chins and tighten the appearance of “turkey neck” if required.

What to expect during a radiofrequency skin tightening facial

Glycerol is applied to the skin to allow for the Radio Frequency hand piece to glide over the skin, it’s a relaxing warm treatment. You may experience a slight flicking sensation during the contouring portion of the facial if you would like more sculpted cheekbones and tighter jawline. This is only lasts for a 7 minutes whilst the excess fat is being broken down, it gets rid of fat and double chins whilst also contouring cheekbones.

Howw many radiofrequency treatments will I need?

You may see a lifting and volumising effect after one treatment but for significant results we recommend a course of 6 treatments 7-10 days apart. Results can then be maintained with a monthly top-up (see our membership plans).

Does radiofrequency get rid of wrinkles?

Ageing makes open pores look even more obvious, the skin texture gets worse and crows feet, fine line & wrinkles appear. A course of radio frequency will help reduce and soften these as new collagen and elastin is formed.

What is required of me for RF Microneedling treatments?

We recommend a full skin consultation and photos before Radio Frequency & Microneedling treatments are started. During the skin consultation, treatment areas and areas of concern are established. These areas may vary from a Full Face & Neck, Full Face, Neck, Forehead, Jawline, Half Face and Eye Lift. We can treat as little or as much as you would like!
