What is a HIFU Treatment? – 14 TOP Questions

1) What is a HIFU treatment?  What Does HIFU Do To Your Face?

HIFU is best known for facial contouring, double chin removal and to tighten face skin. It lifts the face, creates an eye lift, tightens the skin and contours the cheekbones & jawline.

It also permanently destroys excess fat to get rid of double chins & turkey necks. It’s the best non-invasive double chin removal option on the market with no down time & pain free when using the latest medical Focus Dual device.

Alongside facial contouring HIFU also improves the texture of the skin by reducing pore size, acne scars, fine line & wrinkles whilst smoothing skin.

2) Can HIFU be used on the body?

HIFU or High Intensity Focused Ultrasound is the perfect treatment for body contouring, reducing excess belly fat, bingo wings, saddle bags, crepe skin etc.. It also minimises the appearance of cellulite. It’s a super effective treatment for both inch loss and fat loss by permanently destroying fat cells without harming the skin’s surface. Not only does it get rid of fat it also tightens loose skin at the same time. You wouldn’t want to lose inches and be left with loose skin! Many other treatments on the market do not tighten skin at the same time like HIFU does, they generally only get rid of the excess fat. All this is achieved pain free with zero down time.

3) What is body HIFU?

HIFU is a permanent fat loss treatment which creates smoother contours and inch loss. Traditionally HIFU is painful however in 2021 Lynton Laser developed the latest pain free device called the Focus Dual. Our Focus Dual device painlessly uses ultrasound to generate heat in the tissues which destroys the fat cells for good. Popular areas we treat are the belly fat on the stomach, thighs, bum, bingo wings, double chins and back fat. Not only does it permanently destroy fat, but it also stimulates new baby collagen & elastin to make the skin look & feel tighter and firmer. HIFU skin tightening treatments and inch loss treatments are non-invasive and have little to no down time.

4) Does HIFU reduce belly fat?

HIFU is fantastic for reducing stubborn belly fat and perfect postpartum! The heat generated by the ultrasound permanently destroys fat cells in the area aiding inch loss. Often the fat on our stomachs is the last to shift and it’s difficult to spot treat fat in the gym. This is where HIFU helps as it will melt fat away whilst tightening crepey skin and loose skin too. HIFU will lose belly fat without exercise, naturally we would always recommend exercise to maximise results. We can really target specific areas such as the stubborn lower belly fat pouch.

5) Does HIFU tighten skin?

Yes! HIFU is fantastic for skin tightening and is the perfect non surgical facelift and body contouring option! It treats saggy skin, crepe skin, crepey skin, loose skin on the face & body which also minimises cellulite, fine line & wrinkles.

HIFU uses ultrasound waves to generate temperatures of 65C+, once they reach this temperature they experience cellular damage causing ‘thermal remodeling’ that helps to lift and tighten the skin.

6) Does HIFU work on legs?

Stubborn pockets of fat and cellulite can affect our self confidence, HIFU can spot treat target areas effectively and safely. These include the outer and inner thighs, abdomen, hips, buttocks, and inner arms. It’s really good at reducing cellulite and reducing the orange peel effect.

7) Does HIFU work on arms?

Yes! HIFU can also treat the arms and can effectively reduce unwanted fat or ‘bingo wings’ as well as tighten lax skin and creepy skin in the area.

8) Is HIFU worth the money?

HIFU is a safer and less invasive facial treatment which costs significantly less than its surgical alternatives. Less downtime and less healing also adds to reasons why clients select HIFU over surgery. Results last for 12-24 months where we recommend a top up treatment. HIFU is a popular alternative to jawline fillers as clients want to eliminate all risk of looking over filled in time which creates the well known ‘chipmunk face’ or ‘pillow face’ we see online with celebrities.

9) Why is HIFU so painful?

Old traditional HIFU can be quite painful as it heats the deeper layers of skin to cause its thermal reaction. However, our new device FOCUS DUAL HIFU has a Safety Assist Transducer (SAT) which allows the accurate depth to be reached without causing heat damage to surrounding tissues or bones. Benefits of SAT are reduced risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and reduces pain as experienced in old traditional HIFU.

10) What happens to fat cells after HIFU?

HIFU uses ultrasound to generate energy which heats fat cells to temperatures of 60-65ºC. Exposing the fat cell to these high temperatures for just one second causes the cell to die instantly. The fat cells are permanently destroyed and are naturally passed out through the body in the lymphatics.

11) How long do HIFU results last?

After an initial course of three HIFU treatments results can last between 12-18 months and regular top up sessions can prolong the effects and give long lasting results.

12) Does HIFU help Crepey skin?

As HIFU is great for tightening loose skin it is perfect for crepey skin also. HIFU stimulates new collagen production to lift, tighten, contour and firm. This is really popular after weight loss and post pregnancy belly.

13) Can you exercise after HIFU treatment?

As HIFU is a heat treatment, heavy exercise or anything that could cause sweating is not advised immediately after treatment. This is because we wouldn’t want to overheat the treatment area so saunas etc. you are not advised on the day of treatment. However after 48 hours regular exercise will help aid the effects of your HIFU treatment on the body and help you maintain results for longer.

14) Can I drink alcohol after HIFU?

Drinking alcohol isn’t advised for 48hrs after a HIFU treatment. Alcohol makes your liver do extra work. After the treatment,

your liver will be tasked with breaking down the deactivated fat. Consuming alcohol means that the liver now has to break down alcohol in addition to the deactivated fat, thus your treatment wouldn’t be effective and you will have wasted your hard earned money. Alcohol is full of calories too which will lead to new body fat being stored.
